Why the name Saviors of Souls?

The term SOS which is globally used at times of distress was the motivation behind the name.  With many acronyms already available for SOS, the Founding Team decided on Saviors of Souls with no other agenda.

Is Saviors of Souls affiliated to any particular religion?

No, we are not.  We pledge to help any victim without bias.

Is Saviors of Souls affiliated to any particular governmental organization?

Thus far we are not.  But we are looking to be associated with either the state or the central government projects.

Does Saviors of Souls only help women & children?

We help all humans, irrespective of age/sex/religion/language/demographics.  But predominantly we have encountered only women & children in distress.

Does Saviors of Souls have geographic specifications/restriction?

No, we do not.  We have taken in victims from various locations provided they are willing to make the move on their own accord.

Does Saviors of Souls help in legal adoption of children?

No, Saviors of Souls does not help with adoption.

Do Saviors of Souls employees receive monetary remuneration?

Not in the last 7 years, the organization was run by volunteers only.

Since the financial year 2018-2019, along with volunteers, Saviors of Souls have hired full-time and part-time employees for a salary.

How does Saviors of Souls raise resources?

Resources are raised as needed through individuals, institutions, organizations, Corporate, and CSR activities.

How long does Saviors of Souls house these victims?

Each case is different, and thus a call will be taken as needed.  Nevertheless, the prime focus is on job rehabilitation, which will eventually help them to be financially independent.  We at Saviors of Souls intend to let them go at the right time (after 3 years of supporting them in all spheres), thus making way for other women and children in need and continue the journey of rescue to empowerment.

How does Income Tax Exemption function in India?

Tax exemption is the financial exclusion that lowers the taxable income. One can avail wholesome relief from tax or decreased tax rates or tax will be for on a certain portion. Tax exemption is, therefore, a mandatory exemption to a general rule rather than the absence of taxation in certain conditions.  Tax exemptions are given to boost certain economic activities.

What is Section 80G of Income Tax Act?

The deductions under the Section 80G are the contributions that an individual makes to any charitable organization / institution.  However, not all donations are eligible under this section.

If I donate to Saviors of Souls, what Tax exemption benefit do I get?

As per the revised tax exemption act, effective April 1, 2017, donations above Rs 500 to Saviors of Souls will be eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of Income Tax Act.

What is the minimum amount that needs to be donated to get a tax exemption?

To avail tax exemption under IT Section 80G, a minimum of Rs 500 needs to be donated.

Does Saviors of Souls issue Tax receipts?

Yes, we issue tax receipts, both soft copy and hard copy as needed by the donor.

In case I lose my tax receipt?

Issuing duplicate receipt will not be possible, but we can send the Income Tax Exemption certificate copy.

Are donations made by an NRI tax exempted?

If an NRI (Non-Resident Indian) donor holding an Indian passport is eligible for tax exemption under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act.  His/her Indian PAN card number needs to be mentioned to avail the tax benefits.
